This is a true ‘state-of-THE-art’ design and generations ahead of most pre-amp assemblies out there. The new (patented) design uses hand selected and matched components, low-noise metal film resistors and Polyester capacitors (no electrolytics in the audio path). The low noise and high gain will simply amaze you, pulling the MOST from your existing recording chain whether analog or 24-bit digital.

Capsules
There are several 1/2 inch small-diaphragm capsules to use with this body.
The latest three are these ones:
KR-1F (Omni), KR-2C (the one in the picture to the right, cardioid), KR-3H (hypercardioid);
T.H.E. can now offer ‘industry-standard’ free field omni capsules, true cardioid and hypercardioid capsules based on a new, lightweight ‘compound’ capsule assembly that creates clean, fast, accurate and exceptionally smooth frequency response when used with our KA-04 pre-amp assembly.

KR-2W: 1/2inch wide cardioid capsule
Sub-cardioid pattern combined with a soft, low-cut shelf pulls instruments forward even from far away. However, there is still generous ambience in the signal. The design eliminates the proximity-effect known with most standard cardioids and gives a true smooth low-frequency curve in any application.
KR-1D: inch diffuse omni capsule
The same basic capsule design as the 2W, but in its’ true omnidirectional configuration. The correction shelving gives a great balance in any live or studio recordings. This capsule, like most true omni-diffuse units, has incredible “reach” in any situation.
KR-25A
1 inch, side-address modular cardioid capsule.
Designed using traditional German/Russian, deep-math acoustic modeling and using a new compound membrane, housing and mounting, these 1″ capsules are the true work-horse of the new line. Depth and smoothness of smaller capsules, yet a ‘big’ solo sound that makes any instrument immediately “important” this is a whole new generation of the well-known European 1″ format.
KR-25A (PDF)
After many years of experimenting with both large-diaphragm tube and FET assemblies, T.H.E. has come up with a marriage that captures the best of both worlds. Another traditional (true-condenser) deep-math German/Russian design, but modified for our pre-amp assembly to give the large, “important” 33mm traditional sound while retaining a lot of ambient “capture”. With the KA-04 pre-amp we can get the MOST out of this great capsule.
